Sales Management 2.0

I for one, am always on the hunt for good stuff to put up on my blog both here and on my company blog and it occurred to me to use my contacts through social networking to create interest and discussions. As you may or may not know I have been researching ways to get published through traditional media and through my research in niche magazine's a popular method of creating interest is through the humble interview.

My idea was that if I could create a list of five sales questions that someone could answer and with a little bio and link to their sites I could publish that interiew on either of my blogs. In turn we could all ask questions and publish our findings which would create a lot of content and a lot of interesting reading. I for one would be more than willing to anwser a few questions if someone approached me. What do you think?

cheers

Nesh, I think that is a GREAT Idea. I would be very interested in doing something like that, and if you read the bios of some of our members we have several published authors and major event speakers who have kept a bit of a low profile here. :)

I have two posts we should be talking on in the forums... First, I think you need to get on twitter. I follow some VERY influential bloggers on twitter and have found it to be an awesome resource for finding really quality articles. My recent post on linked in was based off of info from twitter.

Check out my forum post on Twitter and we can talk more about it. you may also want to IM Karl Goldfield on this site about twitter as he is a big user of it too.

Secondly, I was seeking input on ways to improve the site in my site updates thread, and one of my ideas was to do something very similar to what you were talking about. I wanted to do a member of the week or month or whatever... and post a detailed Bio, and brief interview. I also planned to link to a few of what they would consider to be their best posts.

I see no reason why both of our sites could not do this; moreover, I think the cumulative effect of being highlighted on several sites could advance your efforts tremendously.

I am also looking at doing a podcast soon, where I would want to interview and highlight members.

Short answer I think its a GREAT idea, and I am interested. lets continue this discussion here, and I would love to carry over the side discussion's in their own posts located here: Twitter Post and here: Site Updates.

Nesh,

I think I may have an opportunity for you. I have created a new blog, The Management Curve, that examines how the CRM, Sales Performance Management, and Sales Force Automation technologies are changing and will continue to change how the sales function and salespeople are managed. This is not a 'tech' blog in any sense--it is for salespeople, managers, executives, trainers, consultants and product developers to explore and debate the real world implications of the technologies.

We currently have a list of contributors from sales management and tech consulting, sales performance research, and product developers contributing to the discussion. Finding product developers and tech consultants who can bridge the gap between the technology and sales management is difficult. The sales management consultants aren't techies and have no desire to be but they know what to do with the data the products spit out. Most of the tech people know the technology but really don't know the nuts and bolts of the real world use of the data.

You might be a good addition to the lineup of contributors.

Is this anything you'd be interested in and an area you think you'd be comfortable contributing in?

The other alternative is to visit the site and comment on specific posts. There are a number of points of view being expressed both by regular contributors and readers, some who agree the technology is going to radically impact the sales function, others who don't, some in the middle, so all informed opinions are welcome.

Apologies for the delay and my inactivity in general. I'm in the conclusion of a big project at the moment so am rather busy with clients. Would be definitely interested Paul. When I have a few moments I'll try and knock something up for you.

Careful, Nesh--your British phrasology has a bit of a different meaning on this side of the pond.

Ahh, the perils of language. There should be a government health warning attached to all inter-continental correspondence. To be honest, it sounds a little dodgy over here as well. I'll put it down to hasty typing... :)
