Hi Folks
I'm currently evaluating sales trainers and interested to see what criteria you use when hiring a trainer. I was hoping there was a "standard acceditation" for sales trainers.to indicate a certain level of competence, however I have not found one. Jeff Blackwell pointed out the www.smei.org acceditation (thanks Jeff) but this is for sales people and managers, not trainers.
Looking forward to your input on evaluating sales trainers and trainer accreditation
I could actually post this as a page on the site of you would like... it would look like the Welcome to Sales Management 2.0 or New User Guide on the Notes Tab.
Ok, It took a little time because I am still running behind on things from being out of town last week, but it is up now. I added a few hyperlinks to the document to make the content a bit richer. I may continue to add a few more but this is what I have so far: A Quick Guide To Hiring A Sales Trainer
Great answers here. Let me throw in some additional thoughts, please.
* Being certified is one thing (and I have work with lots of folks who had certification, degrees, etc. but I still would not have wanted to hire them)
* Verifiable testimonials from clients in a similar situation or market is what I would go for.
As one of you had pointed out very clearly, it used to be that traditionally published authors had a lot of credentials. However, don't you see more and more books that are just hype, even when published by respectable companies? You really need to go into the biography of the author and check for his experience in the field.
