Job Title:
Founder of Sales Management 2.0

Director of Recruitment for a large for profit college.
About Me:
I am a 32 yo Director of Recruitment for a mid sized company in Everett Wa. I enjoy helping sales people overcome the negative connotations associated with being a sales professional. I believe sales is a important and essential function in the economy, and that the professionals in this field should be proud of what they do every day. If you are not I would suggest either changing how you do what it is you do, or that you find someone new to do it for! My blog was created to share helpful insights and practical knowledge that will help every sales professional increase their income without compromising their values. This is not a blog about sneaky tricks and tactics, but instead, a place where I can share how doing things right can positively impact your results and bottom line

Thanks for visiting Sales Management 2.0 I hope you enjoy the site!

About Brad and Sales Management 2.0

I want to start out by thanking everyone that has followed me from my old site on Wordpress to this site. Now that I am re-launching and re-branding my site I felt it was appropriate to introduce myself to everyone again and also fill people in a little bit on what I am trying to accomplish on the new platform I am using and where I see this new site going.
I am a forward thinking professional that is a bit opinionated, and that means that I enjoy writing but not about myself! Still, it is important that you know a bit about me so here I go…
I believe that inside every person is an exciting and dynamic individual that is dying to get out. My mission as a leader is to help transform average people into sales professionals, and develop my organization’s leaders for tomorrow; and this sales and management blog / network is an extension of that mission.
I have had an eclectic but successful career that spans several industries including, but not limited to military service, multi-level marketing, financial services, and proprietary education. I have done B2C and B2B as both an inside and outside sales person. During my career I have worked with hundreds of sales people, some good and some bad. The important thing is I have learned many lessons from all of them and it is my mission to share them here on this site.
My education background includes a BA in Business and Economics from The Evergreen State College, a MBA from the University of Phoenix, and several corporate and military leadership programs. I am currently the Director of Recruitment for a major for profit college in Washington State where I manage the schools marketing and recruitment efforts.
I like to work hard and play harder. I have a wife Kristi, and a three year old daughter Sophia. Together we enjoy running, hiking, snowboarding, sea kayaking, 4-wheeling, camping, cycling, and karate. I also collect comic books and am a video game geek. I Love my Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii! On top of all that I am a voracious reader and I love to debate topics of all types.
Now that you know a bit about me, I hope you will enjoy this site. I will try to make it insightful, honest, and encouraging. I look forward to reading your comments, blogs, forum posts, and e-mail so that I can provide the best service and content possible. It is my goal over time to develop this site into a place where professionals can chat, swap ideas, and seek advice on a number of topics. I look forward to seeing you host your own blog, interacting with others, and starting groups so we can all network and grow together. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions to improve this site, so please feel free to e-mail me any time by leaving a comment on my profile or shooting me an e-mail at bmtrnavsky at msn.com

Thanks for visiting!

Two blogs you will be sorry if you do not visit...

Just a short blog post today to share a few articles I ran across today that I think every sales manager should read. The first one is by Ian Brodie and is called The Myth of Goal Setting. Ian has been on the rampage lately debunking sales myths. His posts are very well thought out and should get you thinking. There is some great conversation going on around this post in the comments. I woul…

Carnival of Sales & Management Success - June 28, 2008

Welcome to the June 28, 2008 edition of Carnival of Sales & Management Success. This is the first of the new every two week format for this carnival. So far I am happy with the results because I think I have been able to select much higher quality content with a deeper pool to pull from. This issue there were 60 submissions and I whittled it down to 26 quality articles. In the future issues I may start to cut a bit deeper and shoot for a top 20. I'll

Understanding your customers before you start selling.

Good morning everyone! Just a short post today to introduce an idea I think is very important to sales professionals of all types and that is to understand your customer’s needs before you start selling. I was reading Chris Whyatt Thinks and found a quote he used that I thought was very powerful: "If you want to persuade me, you must think my thoughts, feel my feelings and speak my words." You should check out the rest of his post “… Continue

How To Avoid Negative Sales Stereotypes.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many negative stereotypes associated with people in our profession? Seriously… Ask anyone “what is the first thing you think of when you think about sales people?” and chances are you will hear a lot of things along the lines of dishonesty. It’s unfortunate because 95% of the people in our profession are good honest people that are just trying to make a living. More unfortunate is the fact that we as a group of professionals perpetuate these stereotypes wi… Continue

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your warm welcome. Ning seems to have really taken off. I just gave a webinar on social networking and it featured prominently. Thanks for your warm welcome, and I'll get more involved as I understand how all this works!

Best,

Hiya Brad, I like your site. I am new to NING but not new to sales and social networking. I am learning how NING works now and since I am in sales and marketing it seemed fitting to join your site. Possibly, I could bring some good content to the site that the members would like.
